Advocacy School

Before a notable puts on the hat of an advocate, we require each to complete training on the social issue they are advocating.  We hold three Advocacy Schools a year; Los Angeles, New York and Washington, DC.  Beginning in the fall of 2011 in LA, just over a dozen notables will take part in a day of inspirational talks, simulations, communications trainings and role plays with policy experts and teachers.  The goal is to create a well-spoken, knowledgeable notable who not only raises awareness on the social issue, but influences change when they represent Alliance Hollywood.

Created by Alliance Hollywood filmmakers and notables, the goals is to catch the attention of Americans who live in a noisy, information packed society by explaining complicated issues in a thought-provoking way.  Our policy-makers provide us with up-to-date data about the issue of which we are focused and our communications team builds a campaign around the videos.

Salons

Our salon series aims to inform our members about current events and issues in an informal setting, where the exchange of ideas and information can occur naturally.  By screening films, inviting our policy-makers to speak, and hosting a reception, in true salon fashion, the audience participates in debate, creating an evolution of novel ideas.  Speakers include a diverse mix of scientists, investigative journalists, advocacy experts, government officials, nonprofit organizers and humanitarian figureheads.
